Lightning Strike as a Source of Damage

In previous articles, I have presented the damages lightning can cause to structures and services according to IEC 62305.

The lightning current is the primary source of damage. Depending on the point of lightning strike, the source of damage can be classified as:

  1. S1 - flashes to a structure
  2. S2 - flashes near a structure
  3. S3 - flashes to a service
  4. S4 - flashes near a service
