Being an OFW, I was not able to renew my Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) license on time. When I learned about the tie-up between SM Malls and PRC, I was very happy. I need not go to Manila to renew my PRC license. I need not endure the heavy traffic of Metro Manila and the long queue of applicants at the PRC. Not to mention that I can renew my license even on a Saturday.
I don’t really know how to describe my excitement of going to the SM Mall Business center to renew my PRC license. I was actually the first customer. The guard at the door pointed my to the right counter. I told the SM personnel that I was there to renew my PRC license. She asked me my profession and I said Professional Electrical Engineer. She told me with hesitation that SM Malls process all PRC licenses except Electrical Engineers. What? Is this a discrimination to Electrical Engineers? What are the Board of Electrical Engineers (BEE) thinking?
Sorry Electrical Engineers, you are not included in the agreement between PRC and SM Malls.
