In this article, I have provided some reasons why PEC should be adapting IEC. In 5 April 2002, the DTI-BPSTC became a recognized Testing Laboratory under the ASEAN Electrical and Electronic Equipment Mutual Recognition Arrangement (ASEAN EE MRA).
The DTI Testing Laboratory is using IEC standards as its basis for testing. Moreso, DTI PN Standards for electrical equipment are based on IEC standards.
If PN standards used in testing electrical equipment in the Philippines are based on IEC, why would we use ANSI based PEC to install them? Some way, some how, these two standards need to converge.
