The World Bank has uncovered a major cartel involving local and international firms bidding on a Philippines roads project and it had barred seven companies, three from the Philippines and four from China. These companies are temporarily barred from bidding on its projects due to alleged corruption.
What’s new with this news? Nothing! The only difference is that the World Bank initiated it rather than the Philippine government.
Despite the delayed action, it is better late than never. However, I could smell something silly with this. I am 100% sure that some of the banned companies will create a new company to place bids again in Public works project. A new carriage with an old horse.
Anyway, let’s just wait and see what will happen.
