The “Million People March” is an EDSA revolution on a smaller scale. The aim of which is to protest against corruption involving a missing P25 Billion Priority Development Fund (pork barrel) of politicians. Pork barrel in its simple context is good for the people as it is a means of the politicians of giving back to their constituency the benefits they deserve from paying their taxes. However, personal interest and corruption overcame the need to serve thus the PDAF went to the pockets of selfish individuals. Who is accountable to the missing public funds?
In the 1987 Philippine Constitution Article XI Accountability of Public Officers, Section 1 to quote
ARTICLE XI
ACCOUNTABILITY OF PUBLIC OFFICERSSection 1. Public office is a public trust. Public officers and employees must, at all times, be accountable to the people, serve them with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty, and efficiency; act with patriotism and justice, and lead modest lives.
Who among the poiliticians have all thevirtues stated in the section of the constitution? Who among them lives a modest lifestyle? Probably, just a small percentage.
When can the Filipino people ever experience transparency and accountability of the public officers?
Hi Ver, I’m reviewing for my PE exam here in the US and searching for extra references I came upon your fascinating website/blog/tutorials. I’m Filipino also. I was viewing the news on huge storm Yolanda that devastated southern Philippines and I’m just sorry for the poor Pinoys that need help from the corrupt politicians who will even benefit from these calamities by pocketing the rescue funds that are supposed to help they constituents. I can only pray for the Filipino victims.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Jojie,
Good luck on your PE exams.
I am truly sorry that such devastation is happening to our fellow Pinoys. I have read that there lots of foreign aids coming. Hopefully, these aids will serve it purpose and not only to a few corrupt government officials.
