Separation of Church and State

I have noticed that the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill is a big issue in the Philippines and media is loving it. In church last Sunday, the RH Bill was also mentioned on their prayers. It seems that the RH Bill has made the Philippines return to the Spanish era when there was no distinct separation of the church and state.

I personally believe that unless a good government program is implemented to reduce the rate of increase in Filipino population, economic success will be just for the upper class of the society. The gap between the rich and the poor will just widen. The rich will become richer, the poor will become poorer. The poor will not be able to send their children to school. There will be more out-of-school youths and definitely more crimes.

When it comes to family planning, the church is always opposed to artificial methods. All it wants is the natural method which I reckon is not effective. Nonetheless, I still believe that the family has the last word regardless of the presence of RH Bill or opinion of the church.

Note: I am a devout Catholic. I am prolife but I am also for the empowerment of the family.
